Get AGENCY for your Mac
Free, for macOS 13 Ventura or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. A helper with a mouse usually does the first start; after that, everything works by eye.
The latest version
Checking for the latest version…
Every version of AGENCY is on its releases page on GitHub.
What you need
- macOS 13 Ventura or later
- A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) or an Intel processor
- A webcam: the one built into a MacBook or iMac works
- Google Chrome, for eye control on web pages (other apps work without it)
- A Google Gemini API key for tasks the AI agent plans itself. Without one, AGENCY runs its built-in tasks only.
Is it signed by Apple?
Each release says so in its notes. AGENCY is signed and notarized by Apple only once the project's Apple Developer ID is set up. Until then, releases are marked “Unsigned build”, and macOS asks you to confirm the first time you open AGENCY.
That's expected, and the steps below cover it. If the download box above says a build isn't signed, those steps open on their own.
Install
Four steps, about fifteen minutes
The full walk-through, including every permission, is in the setup guide.
Download
Pick the file for your Mac above. Apple silicon Macs get the arm64 file, Intel Macs the x64 file.
Drag to Applications
Open the downloaded .dmg file and drag AGENCY into your Applications folder.
Open it
Open AGENCY from Applications. If macOS says it can't check it, follow the steps just below. You only do this once per version.
Allow the camera
AGENCY asks for each permission on its own screen, in plain words. The camera is needed: the picture never leaves the Mac and is never saved.
If macOS says it can't open AGENCY
Until AGENCY is signed with an Apple Developer ID, macOS blocks it the first time. You only need to do this once per version.
- Open the downloaded .dmg and drag AGENCY into Applications.
- Open AGENCY from Applications. macOS says it can't verify it. Click Done (notMove to Bin).
- Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Scroll down to Security. Next to “AGENCY was blocked to protect your Mac”, clickOpen Anyway, and enter your Mac password or use Touch ID.
- Open AGENCY again and click Open Anyway once more.
On macOS 13 or 14 you can instead Control-click (or right-click) AGENCY in Applications, chooseOpen, then Open again. macOS 15 and later only offer the System Settings route above.
After each update of an unsigned build, macOS forgets that it allowed AGENCY to use Accessibility and Screen Recording. Turn them back on as in the setup guide. Signed builds don't have this problem.
Which Mac do I have?
- Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen, then About This Mac.
- If it lists a Chip such as Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4, you haveApple silicon.
- If it lists a Processor with “Intel” in its name, you have Intel.
- The same window shows your macOS version: it needs to be 13 (Ventura) or later.
Check that the download is genuine
Each release lists a SHA-256 checksum for every file, shown in the download box above when GitHub provides it, and in the release's SHA256SUMS file.
Open Terminal and run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/ followed by the file's name. The result must match exactly.
For developers
Build it yourself
You can run AGENCY straight from the source code on a Mac. You need Git, Node 20.19 or later and Python 3.11 or later.
make setup installs the npm and Python dependencies once. make os-dev builds and opens the desktop app in a window.
git clone https://github.com/NeilGilani/game.git agency
cd agency
make setup
make os-dev
